Woodturning | The Wormiest Firewood!
This bowl will soon be available on our website for purchase, and until it is, check out more of our products here! formanwoodworking.com/
_____________________________________
Hello, friends! This is officially the first project I've completed in our new house/shop. It's taken a while to get the shop back up to working condition, but we're finally done! It's been a long wait, but I am finally back to doing some wood turning! I also apologize for anyone who's left a comment in the past couple months that I haven't responded to yet. I've made it a point to reply to as many comments as I possibly can, and up until now, I've done a pretty good job of it, but the past couple months have been quite hectic! I promise, I will get to them soon!
This was a piece of a firewood I picked up from my parents' house a few months back. The outside looked stunning, and I immediately thought it would possibly make for a really nice live-edge bowl, so that's precisely what I tried with this project. I hadn't actually attempted a live-edge bowl before this project, and to be honest, it was actually much more difficult than I thought it would be after seeing so many people do them here on youtube. I was not fully prepared for how rough a process it was going to be on the turning tool, simply because parts of the bowl never end up getting fully round. That said, I am quite pleased with the final bowl. Although the worminess remained mostly on the surface, there are a lot of cool details and patterns throughout the piece. I can't be sure, but I think the wood might be ash? It does kind of look like ash, and it's decently dense as well. Either way, I sanded the bowl up to 400 grit and gave it a wax finish with Hampshire Sheen, which was also a first time use. It was quite easy to apply, but I gotta say, I do miss that waterlox shine!!
What do you all think? I'd love to hear down below!

Woodturning | A Mystery Burl?
Переглядів 18 тис.10 місяців тому
Hello, friends! There will be no resin in today's video, but I think the final product is still something to see! A few months back, a family friend sent me some burls they found on their property while removing some trees. I never did end up finding out what trees they came from, and, as someone who still considers themselves to be a novice at this, I had absolutely no idea what they were. Not...

Ecclesiastes 7:3 Sorrow is better than laughter; it may sadden your face, but it sharpens your understanding. Proverbs 14:13 Laughter might hide your sadness. But when the laughter is gone, the sadness remains. If you want to know the Truth believe in Jesus.

Why are the lathes of the majority of UA-cam woodworkers so out of balance? Not only is it visible, but you can hear it with every cut. I have never had a piece wobble or be out of round like that on my lathe.

I love your creativity. and i hope you never stop or change your methods.

Excellent video on a process that I would like to try. Never worked with bamboo before. Notice you used Alumilite clear cast which I have worked with before. Directions state for thickness not over 3/8" (9mm). You are pouring much thicker......did you have any issues and possibly why didn't you go with Alumilite Amazing Deep Pour?.........Thanks

To anyone who happens across this comment, please know that you're loved. Jesus loves you, fam; He knew you before you even knew yourself. He took into account all the mistakes that you would ever make, I don't care how messed up they were, bro/sis. And He sees all the wrong that has been done to you. Let Him avenge you, and don't you lift a finger. Talk to Him. Give Him a try. Let Him lead you closer to Him and ask for forgiveness and a changed heart before it's too late in this life time. And please let Jesus comfort you through whatever you are going through. It'll be worth it. And it's gonna be okay, fam. Much love, in Jesus' name. Amen~❤🎉
